Jaune et Jonesy is part of my SkyFields series where I present interactions between colors using my own de-constructed photographs. Manipulating my photographs is both calming and stimulating. It gives me a sense of control when my life feels slightly otherwise, and it also inspires a curious and playful spirit through experimentation.. The title of the series (SkyFields) comes from the original subject of all of the photographs - the sky and in most cases, the horizon. This piece also pays tribute to a source of great inspiration for me - the work of Color Field painters from the 1960s. The title of this piece comes from two words: I have always loved the French word for “yellow”, (“jaune”) and I wanted to dedicate a piece to my husband (“Jonesy”) who inspires me to work with bright, bold colors. For my viewers, I want my work to present the traditional landscape photograph in a fresh way. On a deeper level, I hope to inspire a heightened sensitivity to color as an artistic pathway to a higher state of humanity.
