Digital Photographic Print on Canvas
With this piece I have lovingly transformed my own photograph into large bands of single, flat colors. Recalling Abstract Expressionism, I make Color the Subject in order to present my own subjective experience of emotions. This artwork is special to me because it was one of the first pieces in which I successfully worked with hardedge stripes of color. The realization came that the “bands” are an ideal vehicle to distill complicated visual information into organized form, all while keeping Color at the forefront. I wanted to create a new “take” on the traditional landscape photograph, asking the viewer to meditate on the colors of the lake at dusk. It is a simple composition with bold, colorful, energy. It’s an ideal piece for both the contemplative owner or Color Enthusiast.
This print was previously on view at the Vanderbilt Light Center for Surgery, Nashville, TN. Price reduction reflects slight wear-and-tear on the canvas.
