Rising Lotus

T. had gone through a particularly challenging life change. They were inspired by the symbolism found in the lotus flower and asked me to respond with a piece. The lotus flower plant begins its life in the deepest mud of a pond. It reaches towards the light above and slowly grows up from the mud through the water. As it reaches the water’s surface it answers the light with blossoms - the characteristic lotus flower. The metaphorical journey is one to which we can all relate. Dark to Light. The Middle Passage. The Hero’s Journey.
