Topazaroni is part of my SkyFields Series where I present interactions between colors using my own de-constructed photographs. Manipulating my photographs is both calming and stimulating. It gives me a sense of control when my life feels slightly otherwise, and it also inspires a curious and playful spirit of experimentation. The title of the series (SkyFields) comes from the original subject of all of the photographs - the sky. It also pays tribute to the work of Color Field painters from the 1960s. The title of this piece speaks to the variations in the crystal, Topaz. Topaz exists in many different colors, ranging from orange, to yellow, to tan, and green. Just like the crystal, the sky presents unexpected and sometimes, overlooked, colors. For my viewers, I invite a fresh look at the colors of the sky. On a deeper level, I hope to inspire a heightened sensitivity to color as an artistic pathway to a higher state of humanity.
